Maui sunsets are never completely still. The light shifts, colors deepen, and reflections dance across the surface of the ocean before disappearing into the evening.
With Maui in Motion, I wanted to capture that fleeting energy rather than a literal view of the landscape. Bands of violet, rose, orange, and gold flow across the image, blending the sky and ocean into an abstract expression of the island at sunset.
The movement gives the photograph a dreamlike quality, while the brilliant center of light preserves the warmth and unmistakable feeling of Maui. It is less about a single moment in time and more about the memory of standing beside the ocean as the entire horizon comes alive.
