Oneloa (Ironwoods) Beach | Maui, Hawaii
"Oneloa" is inspired by one of Maui's most beautiful stretches of coastline. Located along the Kapalua shoreline, Oneloa Beach—known locally as Ironwoods—is celebrated for its pristine turquoise water, dramatic shoreline, and unforgettable sunsets. It's also one of Maui's most popular locations for wedding ceremonies and photography.
Rather than documenting the scene literally, I wanted to capture the feeling of standing at the ocean's edge. Using intentional camera movement, the Pacific becomes a series of flowing bands of blue, revealing the remarkable color transitions that make Maui's waters unlike anywhere else in the world.
The result is a minimalist fine art photograph that balances realism and abstraction. From across the room it becomes a peaceful composition of color; viewed closely, subtle movement and tonal variation reveal the rhythm of the Pacific Ocean itself.
